Don's poem to his Annie on their 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration

MY LIFE IN ANNIE'S LOVE

50 years of such wonder it seems,

As though it has been continuous dreams.

 

Sweet and cute, she was just seventeen,

On that first date, I knew I was with a queen.

 

After marriage, she put me through college, you see

So I could go to fly and be all that I was to be.

 

All those years I was gone away,

TDY, Vietnam, Iran and school to play.

 

She tended our home, kids and pets to keep,

So tired, many times at night, she could not sleep.

 

Her own talents, painting and all she set aside,

But throughout she kept the family in God's sight,

she is God's pride.

 

Now the Scripture says we each have a gift to abound,

Her's is the most precious, her gift of love to all around.

 

And it has been my greatest blessing during all those years I know,

To be one who lives within the radiance of her love, as it does flow.
