He was survived by his Wife, Irene
Son, Steven W. Moritz, Monterey, CA
and Daughter, Katherine W. Moritz, Pontiaac, IL
From the Manhattan Mercury: Wayne Curtis Moritz, 64, Pontiac, IL, died June 17, 2004 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL.
He was born May 20, 1940 in Junction City [KS].
He had been a lector at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He also had started St. Mary’
s Church’s Adopt-A-Highway program. He was a committeeman for the Voice of St. Mary’s newsletter and was on the committee for Relay for Life.
He had worked as an agronomist for Mycogen Seeds and as a certified crop advisor.
He attended Manhattan High School and McPherson College in McPherson, KS, where he received his bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry. In April 2004, he was nominated for the Genesis Award for People Development from Dow AgroSciences. He served in the Army National Guard for 7 years in KS and in the Peace Corps for 2 years in Peru.
He married Irene D. Kaksteinas on May 24, 1969, Aurora, IL.
Services will be at 10 a.m. June 22 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac, IL. Memorials may be made to Livingston County Relay for Life.
