Kathy,

I looked in my elementary school picture album and did not have Norma Berry in my class at Woodrow Wilson.  I attended 3 years at Bluemont and 2 years at Woodrow Wilson.  I moved to Manhattan after 1st grade and my home was 2 blocks from Woodrow Wilson and 2 blocks from Bluemont so I got bounced around a bit.  I found that I have a bit of detective in me also, I called my cousin who was raised in Riley Kansas.  She looked up Norma Berry or Norma Bennington and did not find her. She said there are some Berry's near Riley.  My cousin said high school was named Riley Rural High School and that in 1960 the high school consolidated with Keats and Leonardville.  I am wondering if they had GEDs in 1960?  Anyway, my cousin is quite the historian as she owned the Riley newspaper for years.  It was fun remininscing. Our counselors at MHS may have worked out something for Norma – guess we will never know.  She never attended any high school reunions.  I wonder if Larry Bennington is still alive?  He would certainly be able to fill in the gap.  Her sister Wilma?  I did look up Willard Berry and he died in Manhattan in 2000. All this thinking makes me want to work on my genealogy – have done a little bit on my mom's side of the family.  It is time consuming.  If I find out anything else, I'll let you know.

Good to see pictures of John Wittwer. could not have picked him out as he had changed so much.

I think maybe he and Tom Lundberg were the most memorable of the guys. ( for What????)

I did Toms' mother's hair. When she first started with me  and  found out I was  in Tom's class she said " Sit down" I did and she said "ok Tom is a professor now( I forget of what or where)  we had a laugh and she said  I knew you would not believe it. She was a fun lady.

Well, I can look into the future and See Kathyl, Nan, Janet and Judy at 90  still saying "I wonder what ever happened to ————I remember When They…….. "

We are still having March weather, Janet are you and Mike ready to plant flowers?

No Garden or flowers planted by  me but I would like some of Kathyl's radishes

Nan are you and Davey getting spring fever too?

We were so saddened to hear about John.

Thank you so much for letting us know.

A few of our classmates started getting together several times a year and

often someone would ask if we had news of John.

John was one of the guys that we all remember very fondly.

John is gone but as you said not forgotten.

We will  pass the news around and also the MHS class has a website.

I first met John as a shy, new sixth grader, going into a new school. I had Hopalong Cassidy zipper notebook and the kids all asked me why did I have a notebook like John Wittwer.  I was mortified… John and I became friends.  (I threw my notebook away however.)

I am so sorry for your loss, thank you for the nice note about John's family, also.
